The Tooth Fairy Didn't Come...CRAP!!

We all have our strengths and weaknesses and parenting is no exception. I have many weaknesses as a parent but the one I have been an epic failure at is the TOOTH FAIRY... if I had a dollar for every time one of my kids said, "mom, the tooth fairy didn't come" ....and I quickly try to come up with some really great reason why I am sure they didn't come that particular night.... It's so bad the kids can even come up with excuses for her. They aren't even disappointed anymore. But I am usually able to save the day by tossing a dollar on the floor or under the bed and saying, "well maybe you should look again, maybe it fell off the bed when you were sleeping, you do move around a lot you know" ...my kids are smart, I'm not sure if they really have not caught on to my tooth fairy failure or if they are just humoring me and playing along.

To make matters worse, I got this today....
"An annual survey by Visa showed that children received an average of $3.70 per lost tooth last year – an increase of 23% over the $3 per tooth left in 2012. On average, parents who were age 18-24 were most generous, leaving an average of almost $5 per tooth."
You people are killing me! Not only am I forgetful tooth fairy I am also cheap. My kids get $5 for the first tooth and $1 for each one after that.
"It seems a lot of parents are in the dark about how much to give. Visa has even come up with a free tooth fairy calculator as an app in the Apple Store and on Facebook – that makes no recommendations but tells you how much the tooth fairy is leaving in households comparable to yours."
Seriously??? Is this really something people worry about?
